5 Common Myths About Veneers
Myth #1 – “People will be able to tell I have veneers.”
This used to be true years ago – However, with modern technology and a skilled clinician, your veneers will blend seamlessly with your smile. Giving you the beautiful and natural smile you’re imagining.
Myth #2 – “You need to get your entire tooth filed down.”
Yes, you teeth will need to be reshaped in order to create a seamless smile – But don’t worry, the amount that must be filed down is often exaggerated. If you are worried about this part of the procedure, ask about no-prep veneers like Lumineers. Keep in mind though, no-prep veneers may feel bulky on your teeth and can cause discomfort.
Myth #3 – “My teeth will be more sensitive.”
There will be short amount of time where you will be fitted with temporary veneers while your permanent veneers are being created. This step usually last about a week – and in this time you may experience teeth sensitivity. But don’t worry – once your permanent veneers are bonded to your teeth you won’t feel any sensitivity at all.
Myth #4 – “Veneers are too white.”
Modern veneers come in all different shapes and colors. Each set of veneers is custom made just for you – Whether you want a brilliant white smile or a lighter shade – We will give you the smile you’ve always dreamed of.
Myth #5 – “Veneers break easily.”
Don’t let the idea of porcelain deter you from getting the smile you want. In most cases, porcelain can be just as strong (or stronger) than your tooth enamel. Much like anything else, if excessive force is applied then you may get a chip or a crack, so always be mindful of your new smile and you’ll be just fine!
