Want to Straighten Your Teeth as an Adult?

Want to Straighten Your Teeth as an Adult?

Braces used to be something you did as a kid, or unfortunately missed out on. But with the latest advancements in dental technology, more and more adults are realizing that adult braces could change their life.

We here at Signature Smile General & Cosmetic Dentistry want all of our patients to feel confident in their smile. So whether your parents couldn’t afford braces as a child, you’re looking to land a new job, or just simply want a straighter smile, we can help give you the teeth you’ve always wanted.

What are my Options?

Conventional Metal Braces – Conventional metal braces are probably the first thing that comes into your head when you think of braces. They involve attaching metal brackets and wires to your teeth which are adjusted over time to help pull your teeth in the proper position. Although this method is effective and relatively cheaper, most adults prefer to have a treatment that is less noticeable.

Ceramic Braces – Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces, but the bracket that is attached to your teeth is made of a tooth-colored porcelain instead of metal. This method is less noticeable than metal braces, however, the connecting wires are still visible, so it may not be subtle enough for some adults.

Lingual Braces – Lingual braces place the brackets on the BACK of your teeth (facing your tongue). This allows you to hide your braces, but keep in mind, this method could be irritating to your tongue and more difficult for your orthodontist to adjust.

Invisalign – Invisalign is a set of clear acrylic aligners that are custom made to fit your teeth. There are several advantages to this method – most notably that they are essentially invisible and are removable, which makes brushing and cleaning your teeth much easier.

Despite popular belief, costs for Invisalign are actually now the same as conventional braces and time needed for correction is actually very similar based on mainstream use and latest advancements in technology.

If you think Invisalign is the right treatment for you, then be sure to visit Signature Smile’s website dedicated to Invisalign at Invisalignbrooklynheights.com. Dr. Evelina Tolchinsky DDS, one of our great doctors here at Signature Smile General & Cosmetic Dentistry, is certified in administering the Invisalign treatment.

How Much Will It Cost?

The cost of braces is usually around $4,000 to $6,000 depending on which option you choose and the severity of your problem. In some cases, insurance will pay for a percentage of your treatment. However many insurance agencies don’t offer any help if you are over 18 years old.

How Long Will I Have to Wear Braces?

Most people are required to wear braces for 1-2 years, but we can give you a more accurate estimate after your first consultation with one of our Doctors here at Signature Smile.

After your braces are removed or your Invisalign treatment is completed, you will be required to wear a retainer to reinforce the new placements for your teeth. This step can not be taken lightly. Most orthodontists are realizing that patients should be wearing their retainers for a longer period of time than previously thought – some recommend wearing your retainer indefinitely to prevent movement later on.

If you think you are finally ready to straighten your teeth then please give our Brooklyn Heights office a call today to set up a consultation. Dr. Evelina Tolchinsky DDS will talk you through your options and help you take the first step to a straighter smile!
